Course description:
This course is designed to develop a stronger foundation in palpatory skills via improving sensitivity and accuracy in interpretation, manual assessment and treatment.
Emphasis is placed on developing your palpatory sensitivity, in relation to clinical reasoning and osteopathic principles.
Using hands-on practice and feedback, participants will build their confidence in using palpation as a diagnostic and assessment tool.
Learning outcomes:
- Develop your palpatory skills used in an array of osteopathic assessment and treatment of anatomical structures.
- Apply principles of osteopathic palpation within a structured clinical assessment.
- Integrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology into palpatory evaluation.
- Recognise variations in tissue texture and tone.
- Reflect on palpatory findings to support clinical reasoning and osteopathic diagnosis.
Topics;
- Introduction to osteopathic palpation & principles.
- Role of palpation in osteopathic assessment.
- Development of palpatory sensitivity – via activities & exercises and grounding tools.
- Differentiating levels – skin, fascia, muscle, bone etc.
- Palpatory drills to develop sensitivity and focus.
Teaching and learning methods – short PowerPoints/ lectures, demonstrations, hands on practice, peer learning, feedback and case based discussions.
Certificate of completion with CPD hours provided after completion of the course.
